David Kim, Viola | Angela Lee, Cello | Charles Chandler, Double Bass

Savor, enjoy and learn about this fun program for strings that features the double bass, a special guest to the chamber music repertoire. Our appetizer is a rarely heard trio by Joseph Haydn‘s brother Michael of Salzburg, Austria, who was a dear friend of Mozart. It will be followed by Rossini‘s joyful Duetto which delightfully displays the spirit of the Italian opera. Bassist Charles Chandler from the SF Symphony is joined by Angela Lee, cellist of The Lee Trio, and his symphony colleagues David Kim on the viola, and Katie Kadarauch. Katie leaves her viola behind this time and picks up the violin for our main piece, the second string quintet by Czech composer Antonin Dvorák. SALON CLASSIQUE is devoted to presenting chamber music in intimate settings and features entertaining introductions by Karsten Windt with examples of the music. The audience will be seated in close circles around the musicians in the beautiful and historic Bernard Maybeck designed Forest Hill Club House.
